Piper Cars Ltd produced only four of this particular model.
I owned one and rebuilt it between 1984 – 1988 with the intention of racing it in historic events. Being such a rare car, I prudently had a full set of body moulds made. These have been used to produce the bodywork of the replica.
The original excellent overall design was somewhat compromised by the lack of time to get it ready for the 1969 Le Mans 24 hour race, and by the lack of suitable components available for many items like door handles, hinges, catches etc etc. These items have now been updated using modern easily obtainable components.
The basic chassis of the replica is constructed from both round and rectangular steel tubes to form a very stiff structure with integral roll bar. There are two versions of the car available – one as a track day car and the other as a race car. The individual specifications are listed separately.
